Halloween 2015

In the days leading up to Halloween, both Molly's and Johnny's schools had celebrations to let the kids dress up since I guess wearing Halloween costumes to school is a thing of the past.  Johnny's preschool has a Noah's Ark party ever year and the kids all dress like, you guessed it, animals!  Here Johnny is donning the cheetah costume that my siblings. . . and cousins all wore as a Halloween costume at some point in our childhood!  Samuel was happy to assist me with the games.
Molly's school does a book character parade.  All the kids choose a book and write a little report then dress as the character and they all parade around the school.  We just happen to have a shark costume for play and Molly decided immediately to be a shark; thankfully we had a shark book.

On Halloween morning I figured we better get a pumpkin carved so we made a quick jack-o-lantern.

Halloween night we took the kids trick-or-treating in the neighborhood and as usual they loved every minute of it!  This year we had a mermaid, Captain America, and Thor.

Painted pumpkins

Our pumpkins this year:

Columbus Day Weekend in Rockport

We took a little weekend getaway to Rockport over Columbus Day weekend.  As always, we enjoyed out time away.  Our family friends met us there and stayed for the night so that was an extra fun.  As illustrated, we spent our time fishing and relaxing-which equals lots of smiles!

Water Play

Last week Molly had a vacation day so we let her choose an activity.  As always, she wanted to get snow cones.  We went to a little spot in downtown Round Rock to eat the snow cones and to our surprise the splash pad was on (it was mid October and 90 degrees).  As soon as we got there, I knew how this would play out.
As you can see from the series of pictures, Samuel was the first to get himself drenched.  Johnny was a little hesitant but quickly joined in the water fun.  Molly sat back and enjoyed her snow cone but eventually eased her way in and was the last to get out of the water!  I love when they have spontaneous fun, it was a great afternoon!

Samuel turns 3

Samuel had his 3rd birthday at end of September.  After renting a waterslide for multiple years for Johnny's birthday we knew it is something the kids love.  I was considering renting another for Samuel's birthday party when I was struck with an idea to just buy one!  I settled on a moderate sized one and the kids had a blast on it and are still enjoying it.
Our Samuel James definitely has a fun personality and brings lots of smiles to this house.

Johnny starts preschool

Anyone who has talked to me in the past 5 years knows I have been stressed with the decision of sending Johnny to kindergarten this year or sending him to preschool for another year.  I have gone back and forth too many times to count but when the day came Paul and I decided on another year of preschool.  We are now over a month into preschool and I am happy with the decision.  Johnny has become more confident and assertive  already.  The teachers at his school are sweet and are doing their best to push him to be more of a leader in class.  Being a leader is not always his strong point, he is the sweetest boy and usually gives in to his older sister's ideas. . . nothing wrong with that but I want him to be able to stand up for himself.  I digress. . . the first day, my handsome Johnny!

Molly starts 1st grade

After a super fun summer, Molly had to go back to school.  We all miss Molly when she is in school.  I would say Johnny misses his playmate the most.  On Saturday mornings they play and play and play together.  On Fridays Johnny will usually ask me multiple times, is today Friday? So Molly doesn't have any homework? She can just play after school?  Yes, yes, yes!! (to clarify, we are 2 months into school, just behind  on the blog).

Pedicures in preparation for the first day!

She also looked really sweet on the second day of school!
