Johnny loves the water. We have to keep a close eye on him because he will play in any free standing water and has been known to climb into the water bucket we leave out for the wild animals. He insisted on getting on the counter and playing in the sink the other night. He probably played in the water for 20 minutes, crying every time we tried to get him down.

Fishing
We took the kids for a short boat ride and fishing yesterday. We had no luck fishing but the kids had a good time being on the water.

Enjoying the outdoors
We spent Sunday afternoon playing in the back yard/green belt. The kids enjoyed the swings and then entertained themselves by picking up rocks-sometimes I wonder why we waste money on toys!

3 year/ 18 month stats
Yesterday we had Molly's 3 year and Johnny's 18 month check up. The official stats:Molly-
height: 36.5" (25-50th percentile)
weight: 27.8 (25th percentile)
Johnny-
height: 33" (78th percentile), he has grown 2" in 3 months
weight: 28.4 (60-75th percentile)
Yes, Johnny weights more than his big sister which is no surprise. Molly has always been petite and Johnny has always been. . . well, not petite!

Snow!
What a fun surprise, a few snowflakes fell today. It was a wintery mix of sleet and snow and only lasted a few minutes but the kids enjoyed playing in it.
Having fun keeping warm inside.
Molly's 3rd Birthday Party
We had a princess party yesterday to celebrate Molly's 3rd birthday. We had a great time with all the grandparents and several good friends to help in the celebration. Here is the birthday girl donning her new Cinderella dress for the party.
The bounce castle was a huge hit.
Molly loved her princess cake.
So did Johnny...
Showing off a few of her presents.

Molly turns 3!
Molly turned 3 years old today and we had a fun-filled day.
Her first gift was a princess dress and mommy surprised her by making doughnuts for breakfast.

We went to a friend's house for a Valentine play group in the morning. After naps Molly requested to go to a ballet or ice skating. Mommy and daddy were not able to coordinate either activity on such short notice so Molly settled on going to a place with bounce houses.
We had a quick dinner so we could all help daddy put together Molly's new trampoline (it was dark so no pictures) and talk to family on the phone and Skype. We finished off the night with a little cake.

Family Movie
Over the weekend we decided to take the kids to a movie. We chose Beauty and the Beast and opted for the original 2D version. It was a great choice for two reasons, the kids would have never keep the glasses on and because everyone else sees it in 3D. We shared the theater with one other guy and his daughter so Johnny could roam and we miraculously made it through the whole movie. As you can see by the pictures, the highlight for Johnny was the popcorn and Sprite. Molly was excited for the treat but really enjoyed the whole experience.

Confusion
Molly's friend Alyssa played at our house the other day. That night, this was my conversation with Molly:
M: Alyssa has a baby
Me: No, Alyssa's mommy has a baby in her tummy
M: (confused) We don't eat babies
She then started talking about the old lady who swallowed a fly. I tried to steer the conversation in the direction of growing a baby like we grow plants in the garden. I think Molly finally just gave up on the whole conversation. Maybe we will discuss this again in a few years!
