The Coast

We took a mini vacation to the Texas Coast last weekend.  When Paul was a child his family used to go every summer with his grandparents so we have tried to continue to the tradition with our family.  This was our first time to stay in Port Aransas.  We had a condo with beach access so it was very convenient.  Both Molly and Johnny were a little leery of the all the seaweed in the water and preferred to just drive around the beach in the golf cart and save the swimming for the pool.  We did a little fishing both in the lakes in the neighborhood where we stayed and from the pier into the gulf.  Daddy tried surf fishing for the first time but did not have much luck.  All in all, we enjoyed seeing the beach and look forward to going again next summer.

Molly thought the beach smelled "awful"!

For the record, mommy caught all of the fish.

I'm not a fan of belly pictures, but here it is at 29 weeks.

Johnny can pedal

That's right, Johnny learned how to pedal his trike tonight.  He is very proud of himself and we are very excited for him.
Johnny seems to master motor skills earlier than Molly did.  I think there may be an innate difference between boys and girls or perhaps it is because he has an older sibling.  I don't know but I do know he definitely keeps me on my toes!

Preschool warm-up

A friend from church hired her children's preschool teacher to run an in-home preschool for a month.  It is a Montessori style preschool and very small and laid back.  Molly was invited to attend and had her first two classes this week and did very well.  The first day she wanted me to stay with her for a while so I did.  The second day she asked me to stay a few minutes and after about two minutes she told me I could leave.  I think she is really enjoying the school and it is a good warm up before  starting regular preschool in the fall.  Here are a couple pictures from class yesterday.  They made apple pie, the kids peeled and cut all the apples and they even made the crust from scratch-impressive!

Moving in

Molly has been having a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep and complains that she wants me stay with her.  Our proposed solution to this problem was to move Johnny into her room now as opposed to when the baby arrives.  Last weekend we went to Ikea and bought Johnny the same bed as Molly.  Daddy put it together that night and we moved Johnny into her room.  The transition has gone pretty well.  Johnny still has trouble getting to sleep but he was used to his crib so that is understandable.  They have been waking up at night but are going back to sleep easily so I'm hoping they will adjust soon and we can all start sleeping all night, every night - that is my dream anyway!

Splash

We had a going away party for some friends at a splash park last week.  Here are some pictures of the kid's excitement.
