Ice cream

After church today Paul and I were changing our clothes and when we walked into the kitchen 2 minutes later, this is what we found:
We were impressed that Molly got out 2 spoons and even helped Johnny get some ice cream:

Weighing in

Yesterday Johnny had his 1 year check up.  Here are his latest stats:
Weight: 23lbs 1 oz (50th percentile)
Height: 30.75" (75th percentile)

Molly still has him beat weighing in at 25lbs but if Johnny keeps it up he will out-weigh her very soon.  This picture shows an example of how Johnny is trying to accomplish that. He is eating the dried fruit he stole from her (as he already had a snack) and is shoveling it in by the handful.

One more picture from yesterday of Molly and Johnny playing in a bucket of water, it was supposed to be for Molly's barbies to play in but within minutes both kids were in it.

Green Eggs and Ham

We have read Green Eggs and Ham at least 100 times yet every time we get to the page where he is going to try them Molly gets excited.  Tonight she whispered to me, "he likes them".

Birthday parties

Saturday we had 2 birthday parties to attend.  First we went to our niece Cassie's party at Chuck E. Cheese.  It was the kids first time to go there so they were not sure what to think of the games but they had fun.

Like I said, they were not sure what to think of the rides!
Yes, Molly is on there too, they were having more fun than it looks.

After the party at Chuck E. Cheese, we headed to San Antonio to visit one of Paul's good friends, Steve, and his family.  They recently built a pool in their back yard so they had a pool party for their son's birthday.  They did a great job on their back yard with a pool, outdoor kitchen, and landscaping, it is beautiful and we enjoyed our time with them.  The kids loved the pool and playing with other kids and we always have a good time with Steve and Jennifer, they are great hosts.  Our kids fell asleep on the drive home and were still tired today so we are enjoying having lazy Sunday!

Trains

Over the weekend, Paul randomly stopped by a garage sale in the neighborhood and came home with 3 bags of trains and train tracks because as he said, Johnny needs more "boy" toys.  Here is a picture of the elaborate train track Paul built for them, mine was not photo worthy!

No more binky

Molly is now 2 1/2 and we decided it was time that she get rid of her beloved binky.  I have been trying to prep her and talk about getting rid of it.  Needless to say, she was not interested in giving up her pacifier but when she recently took an interest in make up I knew that was key to my negotiation strategy.  I offered to buy Molly her own "big girl" make up if she threw away her "baby" binky.  We went to Target and picked out a few items and a new make up bag and when we got home Molly was eager to get the make up and promptly threw away her binky.  All was fine until nap time when she cried and tried to get the pacifier out of the garbage.  I was able to calm her and get her to sleep.  Getting to sleep is still a little challenging for her but she is doing great and is not asking for her binky anymore.  For the first 2 days she applied her lip gloss about 100 times but that is slowing, last night she slept with a tape measure that Paul let her play with.  Whatever it takes as long as it is not a pacifier.
I"m sure you are wondering, yes, Johnny still has his pacifier!  I know, I should get rid of his too, but a mom has to get a little sleep!

Johnny Paul turns 1

I am finally jumping on the bandwagon and starting a blog.  I enjoy reading the blogs of my friends and family but never thought I would actually do it.  I am hoping it will be a good tool to help me chronicle my kids lives so unless you want to know all things Molly and Johnny, this will bore you.  I realized how much I am behind in keeping track of my kids progress when I went to update Johnny's baby book and only have a 1 month photo in it.  I have since ordered pictures from the last 11 months but they are still sitting at Walgreens waiting to be picked up!
Last week was pretty exciting for us so a good time to start writing.  A week ago Johnny turned 1.  I cannot believe how fast the year has gone.  He is a super sweet boy, a bit of a mama's boy but full of smiles and has a great laugh.  Everyone he meets thinks he is quite handsome and he loves to hear it.  He is becoming increasing independent and can now take about 10-15 steps at a time.  Johnny is more brave than Molly was at this age.  He loves to climb and currently his favorite activities are taking things out of the garbage can and hiding my kitchen towel in the oven drawer.
